Alan Caruba has been a brilliant journalist with an insightful mind for over 40 years. Cutting quickly to the chase with an unusual capacity for efficient wordsmithing, he unveils the operational forces that control a myriad of political issues of our day. His little 143-page paperback collection of fifty, thousand-word (or less) essays on Eco-Lunacy, Understanding Islam, Education, Immigration and more should be carried in your back pocket or purse everywhere. Eco-Lunacy "Why, then do environmentalists target agriculture and ranching, so necessary to feed a huge worldwide population? Why have the Greens succeeded in banning many of the pesticides that protect crops against the many insects that attack them or herbicides that protect crops against weeds that can destroy them? Why would Greens want DDT banned when there is no proof it poses a health threat and indeed could protect the millions who die every year from malaria for the lack of it? "Indeed the story of the environmental movement is about the steady degradation of the American economy and other nations around the world. In 2003, the groups claimed responsibility for 75 actions, striking against fur farms, logging operations, forest Service facilities, slaughterhouses, and other targets throughout northwestern states. I have often thought that this hydrogen economy seems intuitively flawed; using energy to make hydrogen to then be used as an energy source. "If you add up all the mercury released from coal combustion and compare it to the global sources, the current analytical and statistical techniques and technologies probably will not be able to detect any reduction of the global mercury pool in the environment." While being a strong supporter of our Latino population, he accurately criticizes the Bush Administration for echoing so many of the UN-generated globalist policies which ignore the unrecognized threat of our 1,700 mile open border to allow a significant build-up of Moslem terrorists in our midst. "There are a lot of reasons advanced to explain why the Bush administration will do nothing to stop the flow of illegals across our southern border, the vast bulk of whom are Mexicans, but the one I had not heard until I received the email was that Mexico would collapse without the money sent back by the Mexicans, legal and illegal, among us. When you look at the economic data, it is the one explanation that begins to make sense." Education "There was a time when local school boards were in charge of local schools. Those days are long gone. Today the teacher's unions control all aspects of education in America and they dominate the Department of Education. They are considered a keystone of the Democratic Party and acknowledged by all as extremely liberal. As such, they have worked hard to deconstruct the former system of education that produced well educated students up to the years of the 1950s and replaced it with a system that now produces children deliberately rendered ignorant of the basic skills, of history, of civics, of geography, et cetera. Add to this, the massive infusion of lies about the earth's environment throughout the entire curriculum." "Would it be that we could 'tweak' the entire education system in America and make it work again. The reality, however, is that the thing is broken. It doesn't work. Alan's first book, "Warning Signs", a compilation of op-eds and essays that was released a couple of years ago was welcomed by his readers as a handy way to access some of his best writings up to that point. "Right Answers" is in the same format, a collection of Alan's more recent work broken down into several categories. His articles on the environmental movement have always been my favorites. Alan has the eco-lunatics pegged for exactly what they are, and the section of "Right Answers" aptly called "Eco-Lunacy" addresses much of the craziness and downright absurdity that these so called "environmentalists" are know for. Global warming is addressed, of course, along with the animal rights nuts, the ESA, recycling and the hydrogen fuel myth. Other sections, the first of which I consider Alan an expert on, is called "Understanding Islam". He is not fooled by the Islamo-fascists, in fact one of the articles in the book is titled "A Worldwide Criminal Enterprise". Alan's thoughts on the Islam of today are extremely insightful, and I consider this section necessary reading for those who don't "get it" when it comes to today's war on terror. Other sections in the book address Immigration and Education, along with Alan's thoughts on such diverse subjects as Christmas, obesity and even "The War on Meat". Put this one on your list of mandatory reading. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Book Review: "Right Answers" by Alan Caruba I must confess that I always look forward to reading Alan Caruba’s columns. Reading Caruba reminds me of the old saying that compares public speaking to a skirt—that it should be short enough to hold your interest, but long enough to cover the subject. Alan Caruba’s latest book, Right Answers does exactly that. The subtitle of the book, “short takes on big issues: separating fact from fantasy” aptly explains the book’s format – a collection of essays that effectively dissect the issues that affect us all. The essays are grouped into five sections, beginning with “Understanding Islam” – a no- holds-barred look at the “religion of peace” and the “war on terror”. Caruba cites many examples of the violent side of Islam along with demonstrating how our politically correct leaders avoid the true issue at hand. Quoting Caruba: World leaders have been at pains to say we are engaged in a “war on terror”. No, we are engaged in a war with Islam because Islam has been engaged in a war on everyone who is not a Muslim, while killing quite a few who are. Other sections of the book include “Eco-Lunacy”, “Immigration or Invasion”, “Destroying Education” and finally “Random Thoughts”. The immigration section includes the following: Some have called the Bush administration immigration policies “schizophrenic”, but they are not. Bush’s policies are globalist, the views of someone for whom national borders should be regarded as outmoded while we all join hands in one big, global neighborhood.
Given the reports of a “North American Union” being forged by Bush and other leaders, those words are especially ominous. But then, getting down to the nitty-gritty is what Alan Caruba does so well. Based on the success of "Warning Signs", the first collection of Alan Caruba's commentaries, posted weekly on the Internet site of The National Anxiety Center, and excerpted on more than thirty of the most influential news and opinion websites, a new collection, "Right Answers: Separating Fact from Fantasy", has been published by Merril Press.
